Description:
Background and purpose Globally, more than 2.5 billion people could benefit from assistive technology, yet access remains limited, particularly in low and middle-income countries (LMICs). Among them, an estimated 240 million children under the age of 18 live with disabilities and often face systemic barriers to education and participation in society. Assistive technologies (AT) are essential in overcoming these barriers, enabling children to exercise their right to quality education as set out in the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). Aligned with the UNICEF WHO Global Report on Assistive Technology (GReAT) and UNICEF's commitment to Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), this Request for Proposal (RFP 503879) supports the integration of inclusive education products and psychosocial wellbeing materials into UNICEF's global supply catalogue. The aim is to ensure that children with disabilities and those experiencing mental health challenges have the tools, resources, and supportive environments needed to thrive in learning and community settings. Through this Request for Proposal, UNICEF is aiming to establish multiple time-bound global Long- Term Arrangements (LTAs) for the supply of inclusive educational products ("ICARE") and MHPSS products ("Mind me" products) that serve the above objectives.
